NCRB Report: How Kolkata Has Emerged as the Safest City, Especially for Women
The National Crime Records Bureau recently released its annual report on crime in India for the year 2022 and Kolkata has emerged as the safest city in India for the third consecutive year. The city recorded the least number of cognizable offenses per lakh population among all the metropolises in India.
- According to the NCRB’s annual report for the year 2022, Kolkata reported 86.5 cases of cognizable offenses per lakh population, a remarkable feat that places it ahead of Pune (280.7 cases) and Hyderabad (299.2) .

India Provides $250 Million Line of Credit to Kenya for Agricultural Modernization
India extended a $250 million Line of Credit for modernisation of agriculture in Kenya. Announcing the initiative PM Modi said both sides will carry out joint military exercises and will collaborate on counter-terror projects.
- The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the visit of Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto, where both countries expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties not only in agricultural but also in defense, counter-terrorism and technology.

Tata Motors Opens Its 4th Scrapping Facility In Punjab
Leading automobile manufacturer Tata Motors has launched a registered vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF) in Punjab, which will be the company’s fourth such unit.Named ‘Re.Wi.Re Recycle with Respect,’ the facility was unveiled in Morinda by Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, a company statement said.
- The facility uses environmentally-friendly processes and has the capacity to disassemble 12,000 end-of-life vehicles safely and sustainably, each year.
- The RVSF is developed and operated by Tata Motors’ partner Dada Trading Company and is equipped to scrap both passenger and commercial vehicles, regardless of their brand, aligning with the company’s vision to promote eco-friendly initiatives.

- Already trading at all-time high levels, India’s key stocks benchmarks have risen more than 13% this year and are headed for an unprecedented eighth-straight year of gains. 115 Million Year Old Shark Fossil Discovered In Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
According to the researchers, the Early Cretaceous was a period of great change for sharks, as new species evolved and old ones disappeared. A team of researchers have discovered India’s first Early Cretaceous shark fossils, “which are 115-million year old” in Jaisalmer area of Rajasthan, according to a research paper.
- The research paper, “First Early Cretaceous Sharks from India,” was published in Historical Biology, An International Journal of Paleobiology.
- According to the researchers, the Early Cretaceous was a period of great change for sharks, as new species evolved and old ones disappeared.The fossils discovered from the Habur Formation of Jaisalmer Basin in Rajasthan sheds light on a small assemblage of Early Cretaceous (Aptian) sharks.
